Product Lines at a Glance

Learn which features are included in ZEP Track, ZEP Clock, ZEP Control, ZEP Operations, and ZEP Business.

Written by Sandy Müller

ZEP is available in five product lines. Each line comes with a defined set of features tailored to a specific way of working. This article shows which features belong to which line and where to find your own product line.

The five product lines

The lines build on one another, from time recording through project control to company-wide billing. ZEP Clock sits alongside them and addresses companies that only record working hours and do not run projects.

Finding your product line

You will find your active product line under Administration > Account. It appears in the Product Line row, followed by your optional modules and interfaces.

Note: This row shows the category of your line, for example "Project Management" for ZEP Control or "Project Time Recording" for ZEP Track. Use the table above to match it to the name of your product line.

Booking runs through the ZEP Self-Service Tool under Administration > Account. Resource Planning and the Ticketing System require project references and are therefore not available in ZEP Clock. The ZEP Terminal is used particularly often there, because it handles working time tracking at the device.

Tip: If you work in ZEP Clock and want to settle travel expenses, Travel Expense Management can be added as an exception for working time tracking. In ZEP Track and ZEP Control it is not available, and the path there leads through ZEP Operations.

Interfaces

The ZEP interfaces REST and SOAP as well as single sign-on via Google, Azure, Keycloak, Okta, OAuth, and LDAP are included in all product lines. The same applies to third-party interfaces, with one exception.

The interfaces finAPI, Tidely, and Lexware require billing and are therefore only available from ZEP Operations onwards. The DATEV interface, by contrast, belongs to every product line. An interface is still activated deliberately before it exchanges data. Individual interfaces are still in their test phase and are enabled on request through support.

Switching to another product line

Whatever a product line does not include cannot be added there either. The exceptions are the three add-ons and Travel Expense Management in ZEP Clock. If you need a feature your line does not provide, switch to the line that includes it.

Switching upwards is possible at any time. Your recorded data remains fully intact, and the additional features become available after the change.

Note: A feature that belongs to your product line is not active automatically. Some features must first be enabled under Administration before they appear in the menus.
