With the ZEP extension, you can record your project times quickly and conveniently — without having to open the ZEP web application. Start and stop time entries directly in your browser, keep track of your current working time, and save valuable time in your daily workflow.
The ZEP browser extension is currently available for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. This article explains how to set up and use the extension in both browsers.
ZEP Google Chrome extension
Setting up the ZEP Google Chrome Extension
To use the ZEP Chrome Extension, you must first download it from the Chrome Web Store.
Once the extension is installed, the ZEP logo should appear in the extensions menu on the right side of your browser. You can then log in using your ZEP URL and your user credentials.
You can find your ZEP URL in your browser's address bar when you are logged into ZEP, or via the following path: Profile > Interfaces > Mobile Apps.
Using the ZEP Google Chrome Extension
Once you have successfully logged in, the time clock will appear. You can now easily begin tracking your time by clicking the "Start Time" button.
When you want to stop the time tracking, simply select the "End Attendance" button, and the recorded times will be saved.
Once time tracking has started, the currently recorded time is displayed at the top right within the browser extension icon. You can pin the extension to your address bar for quick access. You also have the option to open the ZEP extension as a separate window, allowing you to move it anywhere on your desktop. If you wish to discard your working time, click on the red trash can icon. The time will then not be recorded.
ZEP Microsoft Edge extension
Setting up the Microsoft Edge extension
To use the ZEP Edge extension, you first need to download it from the Chrome Web Store.
The ZEP extension for Microsoft Edge also needs to be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store. However, once installed, it can be used directly within Microsoft Edge.
After installation, a confirmation message will appear. You can access the extension at any time via the ZEP icon in the top right corner of your browser, and then log in with your ZEP URL and credentials.
Your ZEP URL can be found in your browser's address bar when you are logged in to ZEP, or by navigating to Profile › Interfaces › Mobile Apps.
Using the ZEP Microsoft Edge Extension
Once you have successfully logged in, the time clock will appear. You can start tracking your time by clicking the "Start Time" button.
To stop time tracking, simply click the "End Attendance" button and your times will be saved.
Once time tracking has started, the currently recorded time is displayed on the extension icon in the top right corner of your browser. You can pin the extension to your address bar for quick access. You also have the option to open the ZEP extension as a separate window and move it freely on your desktop.
If you wish to discard your recorded working time, click the red trash icon. The working time will then not be saved.
