Reconfiguring the ZEP Terminal
To delete the current configuration of a ZEP terminal and force a reconfiguration, navigate to Administration > System > Device Management and change its status. Two reset variants are available:
Network restart: Resets only the network configuration (WLAN/Ethernet settings). The ZEP connection is preserved. Useful when changing the WLAN within the same ZEP installation.
Configuration restart: Resets the entire configuration (network and ZEP connection). Useful when the terminal is to be connected to a different ZEP installation.
When a terminal is in this status, a restart is triggered as soon as any chip is held in front of it. A "Come" or "Go" entry for that chip is NOT triggered. Simultaneously, the terminal's status in ZEP is set to "inactive," ensuring the restart is triggered only once. The next time a chip is held up, the message will indicate that the terminal is inactive. Afterward, you can set the terminal back to "active" (or "active in teach-in mode" as needed) in ZEP and resume normal operation.
Alternatively, the ZEP terminal can be put into configuration mode by plugging or unplugging the Ethernet cable. In this case, the existing parameters are retained and can be modified if necessary.
Automatic Software Updates
The ZEP terminal automatically checks at regular intervals whether an update has been provided on the ZEP server. If so, the update is downloaded automatically. You can identify this by the updated version number on the ZEP terminal display. Clocking in is not possible during an update. Normally, an update takes less than a minute.
If the terminal is used for clocking in immediately after an update becomes available, the software update will be executed instantly. The clock-in must be repeated after the update is complete.
