Zoho People

With the Zoho People interface, you can automatically transfer employee master data and absences from Zoho People to ZEP. This way, relevant HR data is available in ZEP without having to be maintained twice.

Zoho People is an HR system for internationally based teams. The interface transfers data from Zoho People to ZEP.

Zoho People remains the leading system for the imported HR data.

Connecting the Interface

You can find the Zoho People interface in ZEP under Administration > Interfaces > Interface Marketplace.

Select Zoho People there and click Add. You will then be guided through the booking process in the self-service tool. After booking, you can set up the interface in ZEP.

Prerequisites for Connecting Zoho People

To set up the interface, you need:

  • Access to the Interface Marketplace in ZEP

  • Access to Zoho People

  • The permission to connect ZEP with Zoho People via browser authorization

  • The matching Zoho data region: Europe, USA, or India

Login and Connection

The connection is established via OAuth2. During setup, you log in to Zoho People once in the browser and grant ZEP the permission to transfer the required data.

Zoho People supports several data regions. During setup, select the region where your Zoho People data is stored: Europe, USA, or India.

Data

Employees:

ZEP imports the following employee data from Zoho People:

  • Zoho employee ID

  • Email address

  • First and last name

  • Mobile number

  • Personnel number from the Financial ID

  • Address with street, postal code, city, and country

  • Start date and end date, if available

Start and end dates are used in ZEP as employment periods. For matching, ZEP uses the Zoho employee ID and can alternatively match employees via the email address.

Absences:

In addition, ZEP imports approved absences from Zoho People. The following information is transferred:

  • Assignment to the employee

  • Absence type

  • Start and end date

  • Reason or note

  • Information on whether the absence is full-day, half-day, or hourly. The synchronization considers a three-year period. This way, current, past, and planned absences can be made available in ZEP.

Settings in ZEP

During setup, you can define the pattern by which ZEP creates usernames for imported employees. This allows the interface to be adapted to existing naming conventions in your company.

If custom fields for employees exist in ZEP and fields with the same name exist in Zoho People, these fields can be taken into account during the employee import.

How the Synchronization Works

After setup, ZEP synchronizes the data regularly in the background. ZEP also processes the various date formats that may be delivered from Zoho People.

For absences, ZEP recognizes which entries are new, changed, or deleted. This way, the relevant changes from Zoho People are cleanly reflected in ZEP.

Typical Use case:

The Zoho People interface is suitable if you maintain employee data and absences in Zoho People and want to use this information in ZEP as well. As a result, the relevant HR data is available in ZEP for further work, without having to manually add employees or absences.
