The work package (hereinafter also referred to as AP) in ZEP is more:

The work package sums up the actual hours that the employee posts to the plan object during the AP period. The AP therefore knows the hours that still need to be worked to fulfill the AP.
Based on the employee's regular working hours and - when using the ÜFU module - the employee's absences and holidays, the AP knows exactly how much working time (hours) the employee still has available until the end date, i.e. how many hours the employee still has to complete the outstanding work on the AP.
The AP calculates the so-called utilization factor. This indicates (in percent) what percentage of his working time the employee has to work on the AP in order to finish the AP by the end date.
The sum of the utilization factors of all APs assigned to an employee shows the employee's utilization on a day-to-day basis.
Note: If an employee is assigned APs from planning objects that are hierarchically related to one another, e.g. ticket - subtask, the utilization of these APs is not added up, but the largest of the utilizations of these APs is used. Reason: If an employee has assigned both an AP to a ticket and an AP to a subtask of this ticket, this does not mean that he has twice the utilization. By booking times for the subtask, he is also implicitly processing the ticket.
The AP allows the employee to enter the remaining workload (in hours) estimated by the employee. Unlike a percentage of completion, which is usually difficult to estimate, an employee can usually estimate better how many hours he still needs to complete the task.
Once the employee has finished processing the AP, he or she enters a remaining workload of 0 (zero). This means that the AP no longer generates any workload for the employee.
The remaining effort estimated on a worksheet is recorded. This makes it possible to track how the estimates may have changed over time.
Resource planning makes it possible to define the extent to which an employee is available for a project. This percentage is defined in the employee-project assignment as project availability and can also vary over the duration of the project (due to different assignment periods).
Project availability is taken into account when evaluating the utilization of employees in the project.

Example: An employee who is assigned to the project for 25% is available to the project for 2 hours per day (with 8 hours of regular working time). If he is now assigned tasks with a scope of 2 hours per day, he is already fully occupied (utilization 100%).

From an overall perspective (company perspective, independent of the project), however, it is only 25% utilized.
